Hello friends,
Thank you so much for your interest in me and my work. No doubt, you’re here because you’re looking to empower your students or teachers in some way and I hope I can help.
After nearly fifteen years in Missouri’s public schools as a teacher, coach and principal, I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my learning as a school improvement consultant, focusing on all aspects of students learning, in particular those described in what I call the “Six Steps to Becoming the Edunator.”
I believe strongly in the Professional Learning Communities model pioneered by Rick and Becky DuFour, and base a lot of my teachings around their work, including the use of collaborative teams, data driven decision making, priority standards, common formative assessments and shared leadership. I’ve been fortunate to work in three different buildings that have been recognized as Exemplary Professional Learning Communities and would love to support you and your students in this way.
Additionally, I focus much of my professional work around the concepts of Standards-Based Learning and Grading. I love to work with teachers, schools, and districts who believe much of the traditional grading model is flawed and needs to be altered to better serve our families and would be happy to help you implement more accurate and meaningful assessment practices, regardless of your current model.
I’m passionate about equipping teachers with instructional techniques in the areas of formative assessment, differentiated instruction, and student engagement to improve student learning. I’ve presented at a variety of state and national conferences, and worked for the Bureau of Education and Research to help teachers around the country improve their instruction within secondary social studies classrooms.
If there is anything I can do you for you, please do not hesitate to ask. I’m happy to conference call or video chat with you or your staff about any topic free of charge, and would love to help you ensure that in your classroom, NOT learning is NOT an option!
Thanks again for your interest. Focus on learning, and be great today!
-Mark
